In it’s bid to provide better health care to the people of the Keonjhar district, the Essar Steel Company has signed one MoU with the Zilla Swasthya Samiti for bringing out the overall development of the Telkoi Community Health Centre.

During the visit of Naveen Pattnaik, Chief Minister, Odisha to Keonjhar, the MoU was signed between Bishnu Prasad Sahoo, Collector Cum chairmen, Zilla Swasthya Samiti, Keonjhar and Rajendra Kr. Mittal, Chief Executive Officer, Essar Steel India Ltd, Odisha operations in the presence of Damodar Rout, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Govt. of Odisha, on 17 July 2013 at circuit house in Keonjhar. Other dignitaries who were the part of the occasion were: Badri Narayan Patra, Higher Education Minister, Govt. of Odisha, Er. Subarna Nayak, MLA, Keonjhar, Pramod Gupta, Head- Projects, Essar Odisha operations.

As a part of its CSR initiatives the company signed this MoU to improve the quality of life of the people in the poorest and tribal concentrated Telkoi Block by extending the secondary health services towards effective and qualitative health care by providing required human resources, some infrastructure and sanitation in the Community Health Center, Telkoi of Keonjhar District . This health services will cater all families in 149 villages of 20 Gram Panchayats of Telkoi Block. Major intervention points are that of, providing one Pediatric Specialist once in each week, Full time Laboratory technicians, one Hospital Manager, 6 security Personnel, 4 Attendant cum Sweeper, 1 Gardener, Diet to attendant of each indoor patient, Hospital lighting, Medicines , some medical laboratory equipment etc.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of Essar Steel of Odisha operations said that Essar Steel is always committed towards the peripheral development of the people and this signing of MoU is a step towards the company’s commitment to provide better healthcare to the people of Telkoi block. This is the beginning and we shall take it forward in the future he added.
